Rest well, confer well

For overnight stays, we offer 51 guest rooms (each with an en-suite bathroom), eleven of which can be used as twin rooms.

We are happy to provide you with information about your arrival and departure, body & soul, and the surrounding area, next door & neighbourhood.

Arrival

The main train station is a five-minute walk away. From there, you have good connections to the city or nearby places, including the Netherlands or Belgium. The nearest bus stop is called "Misereor". Bus connections can be found on the public transport website (ASEAG) or with the "Naveo" app.

If you are arriving by car, you can use our on-site parking lot, subject to availability. The access details will be provided at the reception. A detailed directions guide can be found below

You can offset any greenhouse gas emissions from your journey to us through the Church's Climate Compensation Fund, Klima-Kollekte.

Keys

Upon your arrival, you will receive all the necessary documents, front door and room keys, as well as information about the facilities at the reception.

If you arrive outside the reception hours, we will provide you with your key through the key safe.

We kindly ask you to always carry the front door key with you when leaving the premises, as the reception is not continuously staffed in the evening and night hours.

Rooms

Your guest room will be ready for occupancy from 1:00 PM on the day of arrival.

The reception staff is available to assist you with any questions, including in case you have forgotten something, such as toiletries. We are here to support you.

A hairdryer is available in each room.

As in the entire building, smoking is not permitted in the guest rooms.

Departure

On the day of departure, you can use your room until 9:15 AM. If you plan to stay longer in the building, the reception will show you a place to store your luggage until then.

You can settle your invoice at the reception, preferably upon returning your room key.

Body & Soul

Allergies

Our bed linen is carefully selected to reduce allergens and provide you with a restful sleep, even if your body is allergic to certain particles and allergens.

Please inform the reception if you have any dietary-related allergies.

First Aid, Health, and Medicine

In case of an emergency, please contact our reception. The facility is equipped with defibrillators.

There is a pharmacy located near the building.

Night Rest

We kindly ask you to consider the other guests, especially between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM, by maintaining the usual quiet hours, ensuring that everyone enjoys a pleasant stay.

Our chapels provide a space for tranquility and contemplation.

Food Shopping

There is a bakery with a café and a supermarket located near the academy.

Museums and Attractions

The Cathedral, Town Hall, and city center can be reached within a ten-minute walk from the academy.

Your way to us

The Academy of the Diocese of Aachen is located on the outskirts of Aachen city centre near the Marschiertor. We encourage you to travel to us in an environmentally friendly way, for example, by using public transportation.

Traveling by train:

From Aachen Hauptbahnhof (main train station), you can reach the Episcopal Academy on foot in about five minutes (450 meters). To do so, follow Lagerhausstraße (turn left from the station square) until you reach the Marschiertor. From there, a footpath on the left leads up the hills to Friedlandstraße, at the corner of Leonhardstraße (Ibis Hotel).

Traveling by bus:

The nearest bus stop is called "Misereor" and is served by various bus lines.

For onward journeys to various destinations in Aachen and the surrounding area, we recommend using the "naveo" app.

Traveling by car:

Aachen can be reached from Düsseldorf and Liège via the A44 motorway, and from Cologne and Maastricht via the A4. At the Aachen motorway interchange, take the A544 in the direction of Cologne or Düsseldorf and continue until you reach Europaplatz.

From Europaplatz, follow the signs towards the city centre and continue on Jülicher Straße for about 500 meters towards the city center until you reach Hansemannplatz (keep left). At the next major intersection, turn left into Heinrichsallee, then continue straight ahead into Wilhelmstraße after 400 meters. After 700 meters, past the intersection with the Normaluhr and on the turning lane before the next traffic light, turn right into Römerstraße. Continue straight ahead into Lagerhausstraße after 400 meters. Pass Marschiertor (historical city gate on the right-hand side) and continue straight ahead on Boxgraben (keep left). At the next major intersection (traffic light), turn left into Mozartstraße, and Misereor is located on the left-hand side of the street. After 200 meters, turn left into Beethovenstraße behind Misereor. The next street on the left is Leonhardstraße. To find the Academy in Aachen, follow the signs towards Hauptbahnhof (main train station).

There is a limited number of free parking spaces available in our private parking lot. You will receive the gate code at the reception. The entrance is located on Reumontstraße (at house number 17, colorful wall, pink gate, you will receive the directions at the reception).
